چکیده

An ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury of small intestine is a serious and common condition that result the blockage superior mesenteric artery (SMA) because significant clinical problems. This study evaluated effect Mesna on systemic induced by ischemia/reperfusion (IR) in also liver, kidney lung as remote organs. Forty Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four groups: control, ischemia, IR Mesna. Ischemia period was executed clamping for 2 h then reperfusion permitted removing clamp from SMA h. Activities antioxidant enzymes levels measured all tissue samples. Microscopic examination performed light electron microscope. Oxidative damage determined ischemia (p

Transduced PEP-1-Heme Oxygenase-1 Fusion Protein Reduces Remote Organ Injury Induced by Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion

BACKGROUND A fusion protein composed of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and cell-penetrating peptide PEP-1 has been shown to reduce local intestinal injury after intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). In this study, we investigated the effects of PEP-1-HO-1 fusion protein on remote organ injury induced by intestinal I/R in rats. MATERIAL AND METHODS We randomly assigned 24 male Sprague-Dawley rats to...

Orexigenic Hormone Ghrelin Attenuates Local and Remote Organ Injury after Intestinal Ischemia-Reperfusion

BACKGROUND Gut ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is a serious condition in intensive care patients. Activation of immune cells adjacent to the huge endothelial cell surface area of the intestinal microvasculature produces initially local and then systemic inflammatory responses. Stimulation of the vagus nerve can rapidly attenuate systemic inflammatory responses through inhibiting the activatio...

Isoflurane activates intestinal sphingosine kinase to protect against renal ischemia-reperfusion-induced liver and intestine injury.

BACKGROUND Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a major cause of acute kidney injury and often leads to multiorgan dysfunction and systemic inflammation. Volatile anesthetics have potent antiinflammatory effects. We aimed to determine whether the representative volatile anesthetic isoflurane protects against acute kidney injury-induced liver and intestinal injury and to determine the mech...

Protective Effect of Crocin on Gastric Mucosal Lesions Induced by Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats

The present study aimed to evaluate the protective effect of crocin on gastric mucosal lesions caused by ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats.Forty male rats were randomly divided into sham, control (I/R injury) and three crocin-pretreated groups. To induce I/R lesions, the celiac artery was clamped for 30 min and then the clamp was removed to allow reperfusion for 3 h. Pretreated-rats rec...
